What stands out in the Miami records

  1. Refrigerated food appears on 559 records (21.9%), compared with 474 for fresh produce (18.6%). Do not interpret the difference as 85 exclusively refrigerated carriers: the source allows both categories on one registration.
  2. Building materials appears on 392 records, versus 161 for intermodal containers. These declarations cannot establish which firms serve a port or accept a particular route.
  3. The sample includes LLBJ TRUCKING LLC with one reported power unit and ALOHA FREIGHTWAYS INC with 29. Use the USDOT and declared physical city to resolve identity, then verify the particular vehicle and shipment separately.

Additional cargo declarations

All 2,550 selected records already declare General Freight. The six categories below show what else they declare; a record can appear in more than one bar. These are not shipment volumes or exclusive market shares.

Share of the 2,550 selected Miami registrations · scale 0–100%

An unmarked category is not a verified inability to carry that cargo. Confirm equipment, permissions and the proposed load independently.

Move from a city match to a specific USDOT

  1. Match the legal name and declared physical address to the company you are checking. A similar name in a neighboring city is a separate identity question.
  2. Use the USDOT number to open the official record. Check current authority, insurance evidence and the proposed service separately.
  3. Keep the source and filing dates with your notes. A dataset refresh is not a new MCS-150 filing or a live dispatch check.

Source, geography and selection

The FMCSA Company Census File is the source of the counts, declarations and sample. The field dictionary (Rev. 8, January 23, 2026) defines physical city/state, record status, operation and cargo fields. Physical city is the principal address declared to FMCSA; it is not a boundary test, depot inventory, metropolitan-area search or area served.

We select records with active record status (A), an entity type containing Carrier (C), country US, interstate carrier operation (A), classification including Authorized For Hire and General Freight marked X, then match physical state FL and physical city MIAMI exactly after uppercasing. Other classifications and cargo declarations may coexist.

Counts were checked against distinct USDOT numbers. Cargo categories share the same filter and denominator. The five examples use ascending numeric USDOT, not a commercial ranking. Missing values stay “Not reported”; reported zero remains zero.
