Keep the time you read a record separate from the dates inside it. Checking again today does not make the carrier’s filing or safety review new.
01 · Your observation
When did you check?
Save the USDOT number, official source URL and the date and time you viewed it, including the time zone.
This dates your evidence. It does not date every field or prove that nothing changed between checks.
02 · Registration form
MCS-150 Form Date
SAFER defines this as the date from the MCS-150 Registration Form. FMCSA requires a biennial information update even when the information has not changed.
The two-year update cycle is a filing requirement, not a promise that insurance, authority or truck availability stays unchanged.
03 · Safety review
Safety Rating Effective Date
SAFER describes this as the date the Safety/Compliance Review was entered into MCMIS, generating a safety rating.
It is not the date of your lookup or a new inspection. Preserve the displayed rating and date together; a missing rating is not a satisfactory rating.
